Social Emotional Learning Posters:
Students practice many skills in your space, but are they transferring them from unit to unit? Class to class? Year to year? Nearly every community member surveyed has common goals for people of the future that include concepts like the ability to collaborate, problem-solve, communicate, work with a variety of people, etc. But the reality is that practicing the skills is not enough. We must remove the veil from students. Clue them into why we are doing what we are doing. Please give them the value of our instruction and help them buy in! Only then can we help them build a bridge to the social-emotional skills they are building and finally transfer skills!
Contact me if you want more information on the planning documents for this kind of Bridge building and PD! I would love to talk to you about what I have been doing at Nevada High School. It isn’t perfect, but we have been learning together!
